Fleece-Back Membranes for Commercial Roofs
Fleece-back roof systems are a reinforced material made out of polyester that can be added to the underside of low slope roof membranes like EPDM, PVC or TPO. They provide the membrane with significant added strength.
Able to last 20-25 years, fleece-back roofs are ideal for commercial buildings. Because they’re thicker than regular EPDM, PVC or TPO roofs, they’re extremely durable, able to withstand strong winds and hail and remain watertight.
Fleece-back can be applied over a wide variety of one-layer roofs including abrasive surfaces, concrete and recovery board. They are UV-resistant and highly reflective, giving them industry-leading energy efficiency, especially in the summer. They’re also much cleaner than hot tar roofs and are odor-free.
Fleece-back membranes have a tried and true record of exceptional puncture resistance, and feature up to 75% fewer seams than modified bitumen roofing systems, which makes them easy and affordable to install.
Correct Installation and Maintenance
Fleece-back roofs must be installed over an acceptable roof insulation or other suitable substrate. They can be used in new construction, reroofing and retrofit applications.
The single-ply roofing system can be mechanically fastened to the roof deck or attached with adhesives. It has strong heat-welded seams to prevent water intrusion.
Once installed, fleece-back roofing is easy to maintain. It resists punctures and tears. It stays clean and is unlikely to attract mold, mildew or algae growth.
